Graduated from Franklin Central High School and took a degree in Nursing from Delhi College. Moved to Conklin N.Y in 2000 and am a member of the Conklin Women’s Fire Auxiliary.
The artist in me started when I was very young. I am the youngest of six. To keep me busy, my mother would sit me at the kitchen table with a pencil and paper. She would encourage me to draw a feather and to keep drawing feathers until they looked like feathers. So I credit my mother and my family for supporting my love of art. My husband and my son are my support team.
Member of Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier for twelve years. Four of those years I was President of FASST and the Gallery Coordinator for one year. I have been on the Broad of FASST for eleven years. Being in the Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier has given me the opportunity to learn and grow as an artist. I like to work in most mediums, including pencil, oil, pastel, sculpture, acrylic, and watercolor. I have participated in numerous exhibitions and won many awards.
I have taken lessons with Marian Simpson, who teaches in most mediums. I’ve organized and have attended workshops with Nancy Goff, Brian Keeler, Barbara Shope, and Genvieve Cerwonka.
My artist friends and I get together and paint still life, here is where I’m learning the most. When I need help, they give me suggestions. Their support has encouraged me and helped me to become a better artist.
