Barbara has been painting with watercolors since her retirement from the Binghamton City School District in 2001, where she taught remedial reading and elementary grades. She majored in History of Art at Wellesley College and enjoyed her studio courses. However, marriage, children, and teaching lled her days until retirement.
In 2004, she began taking watercolor lessons in Big Pine Key (FL) and found her passion. She has taken workshops with Marion Simpson, Kathy Smith, Lian Zhen, Julie Joyce, Joe Fettingis, Steve Rogers, Lynn Ferris, and Karen Leffel Massengill. She has won many awards both in Binghamton and Florida, including Best in Show in 2010. “Little Girl” won best in show.
Barbara has given watercolor workshops at Roberson museum, Lyceum, Johnson City Senior Center, Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier, and in Florida. She is a member of Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier, the
Lower Keys Artists Network, and the Florida Keys Watercolor Society. Barbara is on the Education staff at Roberson museum and shows her work in their gift shop.
