Donna began oil painting eight years ago, studying drawing techniques and oil painting with Joe Fiacco at Fine Design Art Studio and is currently painting in acrylics under the direction of Robert Merwin at the Artisan's Townhouse, Owego. She continues her artistic development through videos, books, online courses and art demonstrations.
Donna has displayed and sold oil paintings at various events including: En Plein Air Art Festival, the Apple Fest in Newark Valley, the Willow Point Nursing Home, Portfolio's Cafe in Binghamton, Art Fest in Athens, Pennsylvania and Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier, where she received honorable mention for one of her paintings, and most recently in the Cardinal Cafe in Newark Valley in November 2012.
Donna hosts an Open House/Art Show in her Park Street home annually with other artists/crafters, which she has done for the past four years. She is an active member of FASST, the Tioga County Council on the Arts, and the Historical Society in Newark Valley, where she helped coordinate an art show for the Newark Valley Days celebration for the past two years. Donna also judged displays for three years during the Holiday Magic event held annually in Newark Valley.
Donna began painting using oils, which is her favorite medium. She enjoys painting landscapes with trees and water, and especially winter scenes. Her other hobbies include knitting, making jewelry, soap-making and cake decorating.
