"View of Florence"
My mother was an oil painter and I was interested in art from a very early age. In grade school, my autograph book was the only one with a painting of Bugs Bunny along with the autograph! I grew up in Mahonoy City (PA) and graduated from Penn State University. I taught Physical Education in the Endicott Public School System until my marriage to William Fendick, when I retired from teaching to start a family.
I have two children. Kerry is a mathematician & economist who travels extensively. Sometimes I go with him & use my photos from our trips in my paintings. Susie is an Occupational Therapist. She and her husband have given me three beautiful grandchildren.
I began painting seriously about twenty years ago. I prefer watercolor and enjoy photography and pastels. I particularly enjoy painting scenery. I appreciate nature and often include various animal species in my paintings. One of the most rewarding aspects of being in the art field is meeting new people and forming valuable friendships. I am very impressed with the number of fine artists in our community.
I have had several exhibits including Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier, Antonio’s Galleria in Endicott, Barnes & Nobel, and Front & Center Gallery and Tioga Council of the Arts in Owego. Six of my works have received awards.
I have taken fourteen courses from various artists, including Jackie Westcott, Marian Simpson, Australian David Taylor, Californian Gerald Brommer, John Brunelli, Richard Harrington, Erestine Bucking, and Robert Merwin. I am a member of the Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier (Vestal) and the Tioga Council of the Arts (Owego).
