Joy spends quality time in one of  her studios she has a en plein aire group that draws or paints in different locations, several times a month- returning to her studio with a variety of studies and usually with alla prima painting. She has also spent years going to life sessions. Using a wide range of mediums, usually employing either oil or graphite, to explore color and contrast in a world where many people miss the opportunity to see the mysteries and magic all around us.


Joy has received Honorable Mention for watercolors & oils with 2nd place in Oil. She has the honor of having her paintings in private collections on both coasts. Most of her art has been in exhibitions in the local area. Some of the locations are Broome County Arts Council Binghamton NY, Windsor Whip Works Art Center Windsor NY,   FAAST Gallery Johnson City NY, City Hall Binghamton NY, Broome County Public Library Binghamton NY, GNG Art Gallery Binghamton NY, Art Instruction Schools Minneapolis MN, RB Artistry & The Markers Market Newark Valley, NY  and  True Friends Animal Shelter  Montrose PA.

Joy was born and raised in Binghamton, NY, having returned after 12 years of living in different states and in Europe. While in Europe, she traveled the countryside visiting castles, chapels, museums, monasteries, churches, concentration camps while reveling in the splendid architecture, sculptures, fresco and paintings from centuries long past. 


She graduated from Art Instruction School and continued her studies at American Intercontinental University for her BFA. She has studied from such fine artists as Fred J, Sklenar, Lauren Floden, Carlton J.Manzano, Sandra Angelo, Doreen Spoor, Matthew Archambault, Orazio Salati, Warren Thomas, Amy Williams McLaren, Patrick McPhee, Daniel Mosner and Joseph Q. Daily.  Along with supplementing her continuing education with books, workshops and online courses- the web is a cornucopia of information.
